Hello hello…and Happy Saturday to you. 🙂 I hope that your day is going well – and if you need something to scroll through while you enjoy a few quiet moments with yourself and your phone or computer – I’ve got some interesting things for ya to take a peep at. Depending on when you read this today – Shaun and I are either on our way or currently knee deep in a Toy Show in St. Tammany Louisiana. Wish us luck and send all the good vibes that we sell off a big chunk of his toy collection. 🙂
What’s Saturday Share? I started this little series on the blog that runs on Saturdays where I share with you some of the things I’ve run across online that have caught my eye and made me linger for a bit. What kinds of things you ask? Well most likely there will be lots of links to blog posts I’ve read throughout the week, or links to products I want to buy, or maybe even a few funny memes. The possibilities are just really endless!
This article about saying goodbye to Payless held me captive. I mean – just read this quote and tell me you don’t want to click over and read the whole thing? I definitely did. Twice.
Payless demonstrates who the so-called “retail apocalypse” is actually hurting. Most media coverage of the chain’s demise has focused on declining revenue and on the changing whims of consumers. But it’s the lowest-paid workers who are truly feeling this loss. They’re also the ones who need accessible brick and mortar shops. Shopping online still requires relative privilege — reliable internet, credit, a secure address, etc. Big-box stores like Walmart and Target are, frankly, exhausting — I’m an able-bodied adult and I get tired just thinking about going to one. Payless is going away, but like so many things in our current economy — full-time employment, affordable education, healthcare — it won’t be replaced by something that actually meets people’s needs, especially the needs of the very people this system marginalizes.
FAREWELL TO PAYLESS AND ITS TERRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY CHEAP, OCCASIONALLY MEANINGFUL SHOES
These Foodie Dice on Amazon are GENIUS. lol Seems like a cute and fun way to help with that ever frustrating question, “What do you want to eat?”
My favorite accessory shop Nickel and Suede is running their Mother’s Day Sale where you get 15% off sitewide. AND they introduced the cutest mommy and me sets that kinda make me wish Sophie Grace was a bit older and had pierced ears. 😉 I did grab a pair for myself – cause you know.. I needed a new pair of N&S earrings. 😉
Speaking of cheap shoes… I mentioned buying some knock off Birkenstock Rubber Sandals in a previous Saturday Share , and well I’m here to give an update that is all thumbs up. You need these in your life. They are super cute and so practical. I wore them during our Destin trip which they were perfect for moving from beach to pool and back again without having worry about any damage to the shoe! I got mine from Walmart, but I did find an option on Amazon.
I do this thing when I get hooked on a song where I’ll unashamedly listen to it over and over again. Sucker by the Jonas Brothers is my current indulgence.
That’s it you guys – three cheers to the weekend… I hope you make the most of it. 🙂
Hey hey! Happy SATURDAY!
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy..and I hope you’re having a fabulous weekend!
So I’m digging all things pearl embellished lately. I saw this jean jacket featured by one of my fave bloggers, but it’s a bit out of my price range. So, what did I do? Well I went straight to Amazon and found one almost equally as cute and for WAY less! 🙂 And of course Amazon suggested other things, and I found this absolutely cute pearl embellished long light weight cardigan.
As much as I try to slow down on the weekends and just chill – I always find myself trying to arrange something to do with the kids. Lately we’ve had a ton of birthday parties to attend so that’s helped take that urge to plan off my plate. However, I know that soon the birthday season will subside and I ran across this cute post from A Beautiful Mess full of simple yet fun things to do on the weekend as a family.
I read this post on the Lauren McBride blog about dyeing Easter Eggs naturally. Basically with food items. And I really loved how her colors turned out. So I think I may give this a try!
A blog post that has really resonated with me is this one from Dad and Buried that talks about breaking the routine with your kids. Just like with anyone we live our day to day life with (spouse, parents, siblings, roommates…etc) – we can totally get caught up in executing our routines when it comes to living life with our kids at home. Especially when you are a working parent and have limited time with your children in the morning and evenings which are always such a hectic time trying to do things like get ready and out the door for the day or get settled down for dinner, bath, and bed time! Sometimes its really great to just change things up and spend some actual quality time being present with our children.
Soooo I am a liar, because in my Spring Shoe Capsule post I said I didn’t plan on buying any new shoes AND THEN…I did. Oops. In my defense, they were super cheap and I didn’t account for a shoe option that was suitable for the beach…or suitable to be exposed to messier conditions. I saw that Birkenstock makes rubbery versions of their shoes! And then I saw that you can get almost the same thing from Walmart for way cheaper which is what I did. lol I haven’t worn them yet…but I’ll let ya know how they hold up.
Well looky here.. it’s me.. posting on a SATURDAY?! lol I thought I’d start a new little series on the blog that runs on Saturdays where I share with you some of the things I’ve run across online that have caught my eye and made me linger for a bit. What kinds of things you ask? Well most likely there will be lots of links to blog posts I’ve read throughout the week, or links to products I want to buy, or maybe even a few funny memes. I’m OBSESSING over the new shape of Nickel and Suede earrings that were released in their Spring line up. N&S earrings are a staple in my life and I just love how they are continually innovating and repeatedly producing such cute quality products! AND they came out with a new Leopard Print earring.. I need all three of the ones I highlighted above!
This Lunar Coffee Art Print by LVBART.COM. I mean – ok THIS gave me all the heart eyes. I need this in my life. And so do you. 😉
This Instagram Post. I saw it shared multiple times on several different accounts that I follow. I even shared it to my stories. It’s a super important read.
Variations of this Tweet became a viral meme several days ago – and I Really thought it was hilarious. Then, I saw this article where the writer (s) were encouraging people not do that and other “challenges” where you post things that correlate with parts of your identity.. Like your ‘stripper name’ where the first is the street you grew up on and the last is your middle name, because the article says that this is a widespread way for scammer to search for information about you. Which while that could be a valid point.. don’t we all pretty much already post all those things willingly on our Social Media Pages? If nothing else, your birthday is most likely plastered on your Facebook page so that all your frands can wish you a Happy Bday when it rolls around 😉
So, anyway mine is:
What are some things you have been crushing on or found amusing? Please feel free to share right back with me down in the comments! 🙂
